Broken Bracket: (low level) Place wax on the bracket to keep it from moving around. Contact the office (during normal business hours) to let us know that a bracket is loose, broken, or off. We can look for a time to get the patient comfortable (by removing the bracket. Can't guarantee that we can fix it at that appt) Or we can wait till the next scheduled appointment. The appointment time might have to be changed to accommodate fixing broken brackets.
Long Wire/Pokey Wire: (low level) First try shifting the wire with your fingertip. Sometimes wires are left long to allow movement of the teeth. As time goes on, and the teeth move the wire will become less long. You can also use wax to help with some of the discomfort. You can also contact the office to have the wire clipped if it becomes too bothersome. Please contact Brockman Orthodontics first before notifying your general dentist, they may not have the ability to fix the situation. Please call during normal business hours.
Broken/Loose Expander or Habit Appliance: Please notify us if this happens during normal business hours. We will do our best to see you as soon as possible to get you comfortable. Broken/Loose Retainers (Permanent or removable): Contact the office during normal business hours so we can schedule you accordingly
Trauma to Mouth/Teeth: (Serious Emergency)
- FOR EXAMPLE sports injury, Playground incident, Severe contact to the face or mouth.
- If teeth are broken, missing, or severely malpositioned (not where they should be) PLEASE CONTACT YOUR GENERAL DENTIST IMMEDIATELY. If after hours CONTACT EMERGENCY SERVICES (such as ER or URGENT CARE). You can contact DR. Brockman on his cell phone. If there is no answer, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR NAME, CALL BACK NUMBER, AND A DETAILED MESSAGE.
